Concert Report

„Guten Tag! Habt ihr Spaß? Wie geht’s? Mein Name ist Anli’s … Ich freue mich, Sie kennen zu lernen!“
(„Good day! Are you having fun? How are you? My name is Anli’s … I’m pleased to meet you!“)

That’s how Anli Pollicino’s members introduced themselves. In German! I was surprised, happy and impressed at the same time. But at this stage of the concert, there were a few surprises as well as funny and rocking moments yet. But let’s start at the beginning!

I arrived the Coment Club at about 7.20pm, an hour later than I planned to. But since I moved to Berlin (for my internship) on this very day, I had some problems with my schedule and could not make it earlier. But apparently, I did not miss anything important as I realized when entering the live house. The crowd was … tiny. I counted 30 people at first, but in the end I corrected myself: We were 40 girls and boys rocking with Anli. I expected a small crowd and was quite happy about it, since I had the opportunity to walk around freely and take photos, get some air, get another drink and stuff. Of course, it would have been better for the band if we were more people and I had wished for more fans coming and being impressed by Anli. But sadly …

The French staffs of Torpedo Productions were really nice at the entrance and the merchandise stand. The girl at the entrance realized my outfit and was happy I appeared in red top, black pants and with a black tie – just like Anli! After getting myself the obligatory tour shirt (there were tank tops and when I saw this top on Shindy some days ago I knew I just hadto get it!) and a drink, the tension rose. Only 30 minutes left till Anli would enter the stage!

A few minutes past 8pm the music vanished and the fans began to make some noise. And then … Anli was there! Yo-1, Masatoshi, Kiyozumi and Takuma went first and greeted the crowd, rocking right from the start. When Shindy came up, it was like someone flipped a switch and the crowd went wild.

Please do not expect anything like a set list in this concert report; I am bad at remembering the songs in the right order, if I remembered all the songs at all. Plus, I’m a relatively fresh fan of Anli, so I have problems to recognize all the pieces. But what I can clearly say: All of them were totally awesome!

Anli did a great job entertaining the crowd and getting us hot. It was obvious the band had much fun, even though the stage was as tiny as the crowd. They smiled and joked around very much, banging their heads in the rhythm and playing with the fans.

When it came to "Game of Love", Anli explained how to do the Para-Para dance. It was funny and the fans did their best. Anli danced the para-para, too, eben though the stage was so tiny they could barely move. Nevertheless, band and audience had much fun during the song!

After a few songs, Shindy did the first MC of this evening. Japanese test! Shindy said "You know, Anli Pollicino is a Japanese band. Do you speak Japanese?" ... some of us (me included) replied "Yes!"/"Hai!" so he said "Ok, Japanese test!" (≧▽≦) At first, he asked about our gender. I didn't know how the word is pronounced (I just know the Kanji), so I had no idea. The other fans had no idea, too. Shindy asked again, more slowly. And finally a girl shoutet 「女!」 and the band was delighted! After that, Shindy asked some other questions. Finally Masa (or Yo-1, I can't remember clearly (^_^;)) asked which colour our pants today has (≧▽≦) The fans kept quiet and wondered, so I was the only one shouting 「話せない!」 simply hoping it was right for "Won't tell you!!" (≧▽≦) Why did he ask this?? о(ж>▽<)y ☆

It continued with a Japanese lesson. Shindy asked which Japanese food we know. And if we had Sushi Bars in Berlin. Of course we have! Loads of it! So the band explained how to order Sushi and some other things. And beer (≧▽≦)

After this funny MC, Anli kept on rocking with the next song!

The whole time the connection between band and audience was really strong. Maybe it was because we were such a small crowd, but I think it would have been the same if we were hundreds. Anli is one of the few bands which is really, really close to their fans and you can feel how much they like it. I think, everyone who likes Japanese music should see them live, at least once. It will be an unforgetable event!

Talking about unforgetable .......... At the third MC, Shindy took out a little sheet of paper, written all over with Katakana. And then all the band members talked German!

They introduced themselves and did a little small talk. I was totally flabbergasted, cause I didn't expect this! I never met a band on a European tour, whose members took the effort to speak more than "Hello" and "Thank you" in the language of the country they are performing at. This was a big surprise and made me really happy. That is not to be taken for granted! The whole band tried really hard and they did a good job! (^з^)-☆Chu!! They looked relieved after finishing the sentences (≧▽≦)

Afterwards, it was time to teach Anli some German phrases! Shindy asked the other band members to think of some words to ask the audience. Takuma asked "What does 'you are beautiful' mean?" so we replied "Ihr seid schön!" and repeated it till he tried to say it. Good job, Takuma-san! The whole band repeated it after him and both fans and band were happy they learned a new thing! After this, it was Yo-1 who asked "What does 'I love you' mean?" so we replied "Ich liebe euch", which is really difficult to pronounce for a Japanese. But Yo-1 was so ubercute trying very hard to speak after us, so when he finally got the part "liebe euch" (love you), he repeated it several times loudly and with a big smile on his face. We corrected him a bit (≧▽≦) But this was soooo great! Like language exchange! о(ж>▽<)y ☆
After this, Anli rocked for a few more songs. But too soon it was time for the pause before the Encore.

Anli came back on stage, but it was Shindy, who sat down behind the drum set and did a drum solo! At last came Kiyozumi and it was him who was vocal now! Anli said "We wrote a song a few hours ago. It is about mashed potato, cause we liked mashed potato in Germany. So this song is a present!" ........ so they played "Mashed Potato" with Shindy on drums and Kiyozumi on vocals! So cool!

After this, Shindy took over the microphone again and Kiyozumi went back to his drums and together with the fans they rocked for a last few songs.

The concert was over much too soon! It felt like it could go on for hours without getting boring or less funny and intense. At the end, after the last song, Shindy talked about the tour and the next dates, while Yo-1 grabbed Masa, turned him around and pointed at the very dates on his back. That looked so funny (≧▽≦)

So, after this, we waved Anli goodbye and I couldn't help starting to immediately miss them. They were not off stage, and I already felt like "Wow, I was blown away. I must see this band again. REALLY."

...

After the concert we had the chance to do a signing session! This information was spread only a few days ago on the Facebook profile of the French concert organization (Mille merci, B7Klan!) ... as I said in a blog before, I had some small presents for Anli (mobile straps, each one individual) and a postcard of Berlin where I wrote some sentences in Japanese.

When Anli came back out (they sat down with Masa first, then Yo-1, Shindy, Kiyozumi and Takuma at the end) and it was my turn, I took out my booklet of "Life is beautiful" as well as my concert ticket to get both signed. While Masa still was signing, I gathered courage and said 「ライブありがとう!とても楽しかった!」 ... Masa was surprised and looked up (≧▽≦) He made an appreciative face and said thanks. Yo-1, who sat next to him, heard it too and looked at me (≧▽≦) As soon as I had Masa's attention, I took out my small present and simply said 「これは...プレゼント!」 (I hope this wasn't rude, but I couldn't remember the proper phrase and I didn't want to tell nonsense (^_^;) and I wanted them to realize it is a present and not something I wanna have signed x'DDD This was a problem at PLUNKLOCK concert xDDDD

Masa took it and I was glad! I took his hand, shaking ... Then I realized Yo-1 looked at me the whole time, smiling. So I said 「元気?!」 hahaha, and he replied 「あ、元気!」, smiling soooo cute! (Masa had to laugh) ≧(´▽`)≦ I repeated to him my thanks for the concert and that it was much fun, and I also gave him his present о(ж>▽<)y ☆ Taking his hand was so nice, he is so gentle *-*
And then ...... Shindy! I planned to give him the postcard for the whole band. I was nervous cause my Japanese is not good (thank you again, Keiko-san, for your help!) but I thanked Shindy for the concert, said it was much fun and gave him his present first. And then I said (in English, cause I didn't want to make mistakes) "This is a little present, a postcard of Berlin. I tried to write something in Japanese!" ........ and ........ he looked at me, surprised, then ...... looking on the postcard right away, reading the text!! OMG, I was like ヽ((◎д◎ ))ゝΣ(゚д゚;) (ノ゚ο゚)ノ Σ(・ω・;|||
But then .... he looked up, looking into my eyes and said: "Perfect!" .... (●´ω`●)ゞ *☆*:;;;:*☆*:;;;:☆*゚ ゜゚*☆*゚ ゜゚**:..。o○☆゚・:,。*:..。o○☆゚・:,。゚・:,。★゚・:,。゚・:,。☆ o(^▽^)o
Sooooo happy!!! I was so glad! I could have hugged him right away (≧▽≦) I loved shaking his hands ....
Same procedure with Kiyozumi and Takuma, who were already ready with my signings and watched me and Shindy already (●´ω`●)ゞ (they were fast!) So I had to do them both at once, hahahahahha. (This sounds nasty (≧▽≦)) There was a bit confusing about "Who will shake her hand first", haha (^▽^;) They were happy about the little present and me trying to talk Japanese, I think. The whole band was. And I was happy they accepted it and appreciated my talking (^▽^;)

After me, there were only two girls.
And then ............ it was over.
The band stood up, bowing to us. And then Masa, Yo-1 and Shindy said:
Masa: "DAN"
Yo-1: "KE"
Shindy: "SCHÖN"
(Thank you very much)
And the whole band waved goodbye as we waved goodbye .......... I didn't want to part Σ(・ω・;||| It was so sad! But all the people and the band were smiling, so I did, too. And it was a happy smile cause I just had one of the best times in my life.

Thank you so much, Anli-san! This was the greatest J-Rock concert I have ever been to
(ok, nothing can top X-JAPAN, but .... you know ..... just because noone can surpass GODS (≧▽≦)) ...

Please, come back soon, Anli. I really love this band. Anli is just awesome!
AWESOME!

I'm sorry I can't give a set list, but I remember songs like "Rondo", "Malignant Narcissm", "You spin me round", "Game of Love" and more ... aaaaaand "Mashed Potato"! (≧▽≦)

Thank you very much for your attention! (^з^)-☆Chu!!
